The ECCP and EPBN gathered industry leaders, legislators and sector representatives to discuss the Amendments to the Public Services Act in a forum last 21 September 2017. Walter van Hattum, the head of the Economic and Trade Section of the EU Delegation, expressed his utmost support for the initiative and reiterated the EU's commitment to balanced liberalization. Congressman Arthur Yap, the author of the House Bill proposing the amendments discussed the context of public services in the Philippines and the finer points of the Bill. In a rare moment of unity, industry representatives, government agencies, members of the academe and sector representatives all expressed their support for a single initiative. In the panel discussion, Asec. Atty. Lea Quiambao of the DOTr, Atty. Roy Ibay of SMART, Mr. James Deakin of CNN and Top Gear and Dr. Joseph Angeles of the UP College of Law along with Cong. Yap and Atty. Anthony Abad of Abad Alcantara and Associates were united in their support for the Amendments.
