Manila, Philippines – The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), together with its Food and Beverage Committee, successfully held the Nutrition Forum 2024 at Dusit Thani Manila on July 30th, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Centered around the theme "Investing in Nutrition: Foundations for a Thriving and Healthy Future," this significant event brought together key stakeholders from various sectors to address the pressing issues of malnutrition and obesity in the Philippines.
The forum featured distinguished speakers who shared their insights and expertise on various aspects of nutrition:
Department of Science and Technology Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. emphasized the critical role of scientific research and innovation in developing effective nutrition programs. National Anti-Poverty Commission Secretary Lope Santos III discussed the socio-economic impacts of malnutrition and the government’s efforts to address these issues through comprehensive poverty alleviation programs.
Department of Health-National Nutrition Council Assistant Secretary and Executive Director Dr. Azucena Dayanghirang highlighted the ongoing initiatives under the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition and the importance of early childhood nutrition.
Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary Baldr Bringas focused on the integration of nutrition programs within social welfare services to ensure a holistic approach to health and well-being.
City of Muntinlupa Mayor Rozzano Rufino Biazon shared the city’s local strategies and successful programs aimed at improving nutrition outcomes among residents.
FDA Regulation Officer III Givinia J. Tuason discussed the regulatory measures and standards set by the FDA to ensure food safety and quality.
Mondelēz International Senior Manager for Nutrition Strategy & Communications Pei Gee Chew presented innovative approaches and best practices in corporate nutrition strategies.
Reach Out Feed the Philippines Founder Dawn Cabigon shared inspiring stories and initiatives in addressing malnutrition at the community level.
The session was expertly moderated by ECCP Food and Beverage Committee Chair and Charmant Ingredients Corporation CEO Helen Grace Baisa; Mondelez Philippines Inc. Corporate and Government Affairs Lead Caitlin Punzalan served as the master of ceremonies.
