MAKATI CITY, Philippines – The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) warmly welcomes the formal elevation of ties between the European Union and the Philippines into an Enhanced Partnership. This development marks a shift in diplomatic relations between the two parties towards a more formal framework for deeper, strategic alignment.

The discussion between the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas and Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ma. Teresa Lazaro highlighted the depth of our common interests. These included topics such as ASEAN-EU relations and areas of cooperation between the EU and the Philippines.

This milestone comes at an opportune moment as the EU and Philippines finalize negotiations of the EU–Philippines Free Trade Agreement (EU-PH FTA). The Chamber remains committed to supporting the necessary policy reforms, regulatory alignment, stakeholder engagement, and partnerships to help translate this agreement into tangible economic opportunities.

The ECCP reaffirms its commitment to strengthening EU–Philippines relations by fostering closer cooperation, enabling investment, and championing reforms that drive shared prosperity.
