Makati City, Philippines – The Philippines’ energy sector is at a turning point, and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) is bringing stakeholders together once again to keep the conversation moving forward.
On 27 August 2026, the ECCP will host the 15th run of its flagship event, the Energy Smart Forum at Dusit Thani Manila, to explore how the country can turn growing energy momentum into projects, investments, and solutions.
As the Philippines reaches a critical juncture in its energy transition, the Philippine Energy Plan (PEP) outlines a pathway toward a significantly higher share of renewable energy in the country’s power mix. Supported by initiatives such as the Green Energy Auction Programme (GEA), regulatory liberalisation, and ongoing sector reforms, the energy sector continues to attract investment and accelerate project development.
The programme will bring together key voices from government, industry, development institutions, and the energy sector, including Hon. Sherwin Gatchalian, Senate President, Senate of the Philippines; Hon. Rowena Cristina L. Guevarra, Undersecretary, Department of Energy; Dr. Marco Gemmer, Head of Cooperation, Delegation of the European Union in the Philippines, among many others.
The discussions will be moderated by Atty. The 15th Energy Smart Forum is supported by the EU-PH Green Economy Partnership—a €60 million priority programme of the European Union as part of its Global Gateway initiative—and the European strategy engaging with partners globally and promoting investments around shared priorities such as the transition to a green economy. A component of the programme is co-funded with a €1 million contribution from the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
