“Under the leadership of the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees, with Vice President Jejomar C. Binay as Chairman, the Fund turned 34 amidst a series of good news, which singly and collectively confirm that indeed, Pag-IBIG Fund is bigger, better, faster. Further, the most remarkable achievement of Pag-IBIG is that we do not only have a strengthened and firm commitment towards excellence but we live the standards of excellent performance and good governance. And we have something tangible to show for it. This morning’s activity is one concrete proof of such commitment,” said Berberabe.

She added: “We have continuously tried to remove all vestiges of bureaucratic red tape by complying in full with the Anti-Red Tape Act. We are also firm that in all our dealings, we do not play favorites, and all of us endeavor to keep our eye on the sustainability of the Fund and not on the growth of a single or a few private and personal interests. We now adhere to the “No Gift Policy” in accordance to the Code of Corporate Governance for GOCCs, and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.”

More than 5,000 Pag-IBIG officers and employees in 76 branches nationwide simultaneously recited the “Individual Integrity Pledge” originally taken from the Integrity Initiative campaign and customized to match Pag-IBIG Fund, and affixed their signatures into their own copies of the “Integrity Pledge” that was printed in bookmark form.

The event was witnessed by guests from the Makati Business Club and good governance advocates and practitioners.

The “Integrity Initiative” campaign is implemented by the MBC and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines.

Berberabe, from the time she took over the leadership of the Fund four years ago, has always emphasized the values of excellence and integrity.
