Inadequate infrastructure, relatively weak investment climate, and restrictions on foreign direct investment have been cited as impediments to the economy and infrastructure development in the Philippines. With the re-opening of the economy and shifting to in-person work and class setup, building quality and efficient infrastructure becomes vital to the country's competitiveness and attracting greater investment. It is also on this ground that transport is seen as an important economic sector, linking population and commercial centers across the archipelago.
During the previous administration, the Build, Build, Build (BBB) Program, aimed at accelerating public infrastructure development in the country, was focused on key sectors of the Philippine economy, with transport and mobility as the highest priority and allocation of budget. Under the new leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Build, Better, More (BBM) from its previous iteration of BBB will further expand the country's flagship infrastructure program. As the demand for the Philippine public transport system continues to rise, restrategizing and implementing accessible and effective mobility solutions is critical. Against this backdrop, it is imperative to know the plans and priorities of the government to elevate the Philippine transportation sector to global standards.
In light of this, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) invites you to a luncheon meeting with our keynote speaker, Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista, as he bares the priorities of the Marcos administration in the transportation sector, as well as the Philippines' standing in terms of smart mobility and road safety. This event will also provide a hybrid platform for various stakeholders, including the European-Philippine business community to discuss potential areas of collaboration with the government.
