Luncheon Meeting

Over the past two years, we have witnessed the global health crisis widen the digital divide globally, with inadequate information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and services hindering the full potential of the digital economy as a driver for economic growth and recovery.

In the Philippines, recognizing the demand for better digital services and internet connectivity, the previous administration has taken significant steps to address these challenges. Among these efforts are the passing of the amendments to the Public Service Act which attracts the entry of foreign investments and promotes competition in the telecommunication market, as well as the signing of the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act. Under the new administration, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., in his first State of the Nation Address, laid down his list of policy priorities which includes the commitment to bridge the digital divide by making internet connection affordable and accessible to all, and the intention to continue the country's digital transformation program.

Against this backdrop, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) invites you to a luncheon meeting with our keynote speaker, Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy, as he delves into the priorities of the new administration in the ICT sector, as well as the Philippines' standing in terms of strengthening digital infrastructure and improving broadband service. This event will also provide a hybrid platform for various stakeholders, including the European-Philippine business community to discuss potential areas of collaboration with the government.
