Luncheon Meeting

Local government units (LGUs) play a fundamental role in ensuring that all stakeholders continue to work together for the implementation of policies aimed at advancing the wellbeing of the public, and that the impact of these policies reach the target population, especially those that are far from the country's economic growth centers. Throughout the years, the role of LGUs has also greatly evolved ranging from being the first respondents to natural disasters and other local emergencies to ensuring food and water security as well as aiding in the rebuilding of the post-pandemic economy.

The year 2022 marks the implementation of the Mandanas Ruling, which augments local government resources, advances decentralization, and improves social services delivery in the Philippines. Following this transition, it is incumbent upon the LGUs to deliver prompt responses and further improved projects that are responsive to local needs, as well as continue to facilitate ease of doing business for the betterment of the business climate at the local level. Furthermore, stronger private sector-LGU partnerships are necessary to create an attractive investment environment and support inclusive growth within local communities.

In light of this, the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) invites its members and partners to a luncheon meeting with our keynote speaker, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr., as he unveils the priorities of the Agency to further strengthen good local governance towards sustainable, peaceful and resilient communities, and a revitalized Philippine economy.

Likewise, this event will provide a hybrid platform for the European-Philippine business community to discuss potential areas for cooperation with the government.
