Bamboo is a highly versatile and sustainable resource that has the potential to revolutionize various industries. It is a rapidly renewable resource that grows much faster than traditional timber, making it an excellent and eco-friendly alternative. The bamboo industry holds a treasury of economic opportunities ranging from construction work all the way to personal care. The growing demand for eco-friendly and resource-efficient products has foregrounded the bamboo industry in the search for the next best profitable commodity for sustainable development and is becoming increasingly recognized by policymakers and businesses alike.

It is in this regard that the ECCP Cagayan de Oro/Northern Mindanao Branch is organizing a workshop called "Bamboo Production Workshop: Growing and Processing Bamboo"scheduled on July 6-7, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the Casa Nenecitas, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. This workshop aims to help participants gain a working knowledge of the fundamentals and intricacies of growing bamboo and processing them in preparation for sales. This event will cover processes starting from site preparation for bamboo nurseries and propagation all the way to pre-product assembly treatment, such as the profiling of equipment for bamboo product specifications and apt preservation methods that comply with industry guidelines for bamboo processing. Through this initiative, the Chamber is hoping to further invigorate public interest in the bamboo industry.

This workshop's objectives are to:

1. Teach the participants how to propagate, nurture, harvest, properly cut, and treat Bamboo;
2. Bamboo Nursery Management and site preparation;
3. Discuss industry guidelines for bamboo processing (i.e. treatment and preservation steps prior to producing and assembling bamboo products); and
4. Profiling tools and machines for bamboo product specifications.
