Legal Essentials Part 3: Effective Disciplinary Discussions

Put on your HR hat and imagine being very familiar with labor laws and how to write foolproof disciplinary memos. Then suddenly due to an office situation, your job requires you to come face-to-face with the employee. Do you know exactly what to say and what not to say?

As we are all aware of, every word you utter may have legal implications. After learning the foundational principles of the Philippine Labor Code and mastering proper documentation, this last part of the Legal Essentials program will focus on how to effectively engage in legal discussions. In general, this one-day program aims to provide the concepts and practical experiences on how to serve your disciplinary memos with confidence and at ease.

Edgardo or Jun is a Human Resource (HR) practitioner for more than four decades. He has served in senior leadership roles in both Human Resource & Administrative positions in companies in the industries of oil, banking, information technology, and business process outsourcing.


A major part of his career was in the banking industry where he retired from CTBC Bank as its Senior Vice President-Human Resource & Admin; RCBC as First Vice President - Human Resource Group Head; PSBank as First Vice President - Human Resource Group Head; and Solidbank as Vice President - Human Resource Group Head.


Jun has also worked in Training and Consultancy field being part of Caltex's Human Resource Planning & Development, John Clements Consultants; and Loyola Group of Companies.


Jun holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from De La Salle University and MBA degree from Ateneo de Manila University.

Albert has been in the field of Human Resource (HR) work for 37 years. He has worked in senior leadership roles across different industries such as Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Telecommunications, Information Technology, Banking, and has also been involved in the field of education as an administrator and faculty member in La Salle schools in Manila and in the Visayas-Mindanao region.


He has served in senior leadership roles as RCBC Vice President-Human Resources Training and Recruitment Division Head; Delivery Process Executive - HR Operations- IBM Daksh and Organizational Development Head for IBM Business Services; Vice President - HR Head of Digital Telecommunications (DIGITEL); Senior Director and Chief HR Officer-PROPLE BPO. In 2015, Albert moved out of corporate life and started his own consulting business where among his clients include: an international bank, a BPO that provides Finance and Accounting services, a distributor of fast moving consumer goods for home and personal care, and a leading confectionery manufacturing company.


Albert earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from De La Salle University and was inducted as an Associate Fellow in People Management (AFPM) by the People Management Association of the Philippines in 2018.
