In a bid to attract foreign investments, bolster the Philippines' global competitiveness, and drive economic growth, significant strides have been made in recent years through a series of economic reforms. These reforms have notably included the liberalization of key sectors such as retail trade, telecommunications and renewable energy, among others. Additionally, there is currently a push towards lifting foreign equity limits on education, public utilities, mass media, and advertising enshrined in the 1987 Constitution, with corresponding proposals introduced in both Houses of Congress.

In this context, the ECCP, in partnership with Quisuming Torres, is organizing a session to discuss the initiatives to amend certain economic provisions of the 1987 Constitution. Experts and stakeholders will analyze the anticipated impact of these proposed liberalization measures on the Philippine economy, particularly in terms of increasing foreign investments and fostering a more open, competitive and investor-friendly environment. Key topics to be discussed include the expected benefits, challenges, risks, and opportunities arising from liberalization initiatives, as well as strategies to maximize foreign investment inflows and promote sustainable economic development.
