In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, the Philippines has become a vibrant hub of connectivity, fueled by widespread social media use, mobile device penetration, and a strong digital infrastructure. While these advancements bring opportunities for innovation and communication, they also expose individuals to challenges such as the rapid spread of misinformation, cybersecurity risks, and concerns over privacy and data protection.

This program, Digital Literacy for Filipinos: Fighting Mis-/Disinformation, Empowering the Self in Cyberspace, seeks to address these issues by equipping participants with the skills to critically evaluate information, adopt cybersecurity best practices, and engage responsibly online. By fostering digital literacy, this training aims to build a more secure and informed online community, empowering Filipinos to navigate the digital age with confidence and resilience.

Training Objectives:

At the end of this training, participants should be able to:

I. Philippine Digital Landscape

• Social media platforms, number of users, mobile devices, digital infrastructures

II. Digital Literacy

• Definitions: Literacy, media literacy, to digital literacy

• Cybersecurity concerns

• Privacy and data protection

III. Challenges and Threats

• Digital divide and accessibility

• Algorithms

• Social media use and mental health

• Cyberbullying and online harassment

IV. Responsible Digital Citizenship

• Importance of user's critical thinking

• Ethical online behavior

• Upholding privacy rights in the cyberspace and security

• What do users need to do?

REGISTRATION

Participants will be able to receive their unique links sent via ZOOM/ECCP prior to the start of the session.
The ECCP reserves the right to reschedule or cancel any of its programs. Final confirmation of program date is advised at least two (2) working days before the program start date.
