EFTA–Philippines Business Forum: Expanding Trade and Investment Opportunities in Western Visayas
The European Free Trade Association (EFTA)—comprising Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland—entered into a landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Philippines in 2018 to strengthen bilateral trade and investment flows.
With Iloilo City rapidly emerging as one of the country's most dynamic urban centers, and Western Visayas demonstrating strong growth in agribusiness, renewable energy, tourism, maritime services, and logistics, the region offers exciting opportunities for Norwegian businesses. The forum will bring together senior government officials, industry leaders, and diplomatic representatives to explore how the EFTA–Philippines FTA can support shared economic goals and foster sustainable partnerships.
The event aims to deepen understanding of the agreement's benefits, facilitate dialogue between Norwegian stakeholders and local partners in Western Visayas, and highlight opportunities for collaboration. Focus areas include renewable energy and the green transition, maritime and logistics services, agribusiness (fertilizers) and fisheries, education and technical skills development, and tourism and hospitality.
