Dear ECCP Member:
The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) in partnership with the other foreign chambers is pleased to invite you to a forum on competition policy as implemented by the Office of Competition. Our special guest speaker and resource person is Assistant Secretary Geronimo Sy, Assistant Secretary-In-Charge, Competition Office in the Department of Justice.
The Competition Office: Plans and Challenges
Through Executive Order 45, the Competition Office under the Department of Justice was formed, mandated to promote competition and level the playing field in the market. On its 9th month of operations, 9 cases have already been filed and one case has already been endorsed. In this forum, Asec. Sy will share with the group developments within the Competition Office, their plans and challenges being faced as a newly formed body of the government.
We encourage you to join this important and interesting dialogue with DOJ Assistant Secretary Sy, as competition policy affects the way you do business, your competitors do business and how consumer groups judge your behavior. It will be essential in this dialogue to get the message across to ASec Sy that the implementation needs to be fair, that market and distribution patterns have to be respected and that the private sector needs to be allowed to participate in sector working groups.
