With so much going on in the world, it's increasingly important to take care of ourselves and our mental health.Self-care is anything you do to take care of yourself so you can stay physically, mentally, and emotionally well.
The energy of these times really calls for extra self-care. If you feel that way, now is the time to reset your routine, feel free to follow this checklist we recommended for you:
- Having less screen time. Wake up and try to avoid getting stuck on social media. Instead, try to get more sleep and do the things that can benefit you and make your day productive.
- Having a skincare routine. Freshen up and hydrate your skin. This might be one of the most essential things to do every morning and night.
- Doing morning yoga/Going out to the gym. Do your exercise through classes or through apps. Fully connect with yourself and move your body while listening to your favorite playlist. If you need equipment, go to the gym and try some weightlifting.
- Taking care of your plants. It can also be a metaphor for taking care of yourself. Doing this reminds you to do the same for yourself–to always nourish yourself and give yourself what you need before everything else in the world.
- Journaling. Make it a habit to write anything on your mind–your plans, your worries, and even your questions about yourself. Write about what you are excited about and what you are grateful for. Anything goes in journaling. This will help organize your thoughts and your day. Journaling is an opportunity for self-expression, reflection, and discovery.
- Watching your favorite Netflix series, Korean dramas, or movies. Many people are binge-watching what's on the trend list. There is so much wisdom and lessons to learn in every show. This is a great way to spend your day if you want to just lie down and relax.
- Reading a book. This can be the perfect way to put your phone away and feed your mind by exploring stories or write ups touching various topics. For the non-reader or multitasker, you can also listen to audiobooks and podcasts.
- Cleaning up your space. To set your mood and feel comfortable around you, it is important that you are working, studying, or doing things in a clean environment. This will make you feel relaxed and more motivated to do what you need to do.
